Shame on no IBIS (for some.. but maybe mostly me), but one of the main questions is whether they will have easy/1 button White Balance since it is Cin focused.

The other question is whether someone will make a housing, but this seems like a likely candidate.

If the photos turn out accurate, then the full size HDMI is nice to see (also expected for the stated purpose).

Looking forward to the announcement though and with the (relatively) cost effective price of the C400, there is a chance this won't be stupid money to get.

The camera will have a full frame sensor it seems, but it's unclear if the 11-55mm will be a CN-E cinema lens or not.

Released - Overall looks interesting in spec.

Dual Base ISO with one at 6400 - so that is good.

Can do 7k 60p - (but not in open gate - that is limited to 30p)

CLog2

Open Gate (Maybe interesting for underwater?)

Lots of Raw capabilities

$3,899 (for US folks)

Downsides: No Flash Sync (lets see if this is true - they say that electronic shutter can't trigger a flash, which isn't true according to me syncing flashes with my other canon's in Electronic only mode)

Some of the HQ spec is limited to 30p, including Open Gate.

(and they Released the 11-55 .. for $35k)

It seems really a solid release. A compact "video" camera with all the features we need. It's slightly fatter than FX3.

Anamorphic lens underwater are basically impossible to use so the Open Gate 3:2 function is useful for reframing in post production. Another smart function is the ability to record with two aspect ratios at the same time. i.e. 16/9 and 9/16, a cool feature to have for rapid Social network delivery.

I find the CVP review the most complete, as usual. I'm afraid that battery life could be its Achille's heel...

NA-C50 Housing for Canon C50 Camera

The Canon C50 is a compact, powerful cinema camera that blends cinematic image quality with a portable form factor, making it a versatile tool for underwater creators looking for a smaller system. It

Love the PowerBank idea, plus if you have EF lens with the ND Adapter, apparently you can control the ND Filter wheel. Not sure how this actually works, whether its a port with Focus Knob control, or it uses one of the two Focus/zoom knobs.

"For EF lens the RF to EF adapter with a variable ND filter can be used with an optional control kit."

Hi everyone,

I'm an owner of the R5C which I really like. I'm looking to change for 2nd camera (BMPCC6k) for this last canon cinema camera.

Does anyone did use it underwater and as any review about it ?

Thank you

If you like R5C you will love C50 - for video that is. I got real GAS about it a month ago when A1 overheated in hot Malpelo (!!wtf) waters and also was running out of battery when filming 8k. This C50 Nauticam housing checks all the boxes. Lens choice may be personal issue but for me the 20-50 PZ either behind dome or if going wide in combination with WACP-C is just perfect.

BUT - sadly for me - no shutter no flash. And as I travel to dive and take both photo and video …

But since you look for a video camera it’s perfect. Clog2, cinema OS, canon colors. Will not overheat. Will last whole day. Perfect.

Thanks a lot for your feedback, really appreciated.
I totally see your point about the C50. I had also been looking closely at the new 20-50 PZ lens, especially for use with the WACP. For now Nauticam still doesn’t seem to know if it will be officially compatible with the WACP setup.

To be honest I’m not a huge fan of the RF 24-50 that I currently use with my WACP. It works, but I really think the new 20-50 L series could deliver much better image quality and a more interesting range underwater.

I also agree with you about the photo side of things. Since switching to the R5C I actually shoot a lot more stills than before, but I mostly work with video lights so the lack of shutter/flash sync wouldn’t affect me too much. I guess that’s probably the real issue on your side if you travel wanting a true hybrid setup.

And honestly, I also use the R5C a lot topside and it’s such a joy to work with. Still one of my favorite hybrid cameras overall.

Are you sure you are taking a step forward with the C-50?

The H.265 codecs do not seem superior to those of your A1 to me.

The RAW takes up a huge amount of space, and some time ago I downloaded some files from the Canon Europe website and they did not exactly blow me away. Very high noise at high ISOs that requires work in post-production.

The RAW files from the Nikon ZR were a whole different world. Beautiful but too extreme.
