  1. We just started putting some video on our website, which is concerned mostly with species recognition and recording for conservation purposes, marine reserve designations, monitoring of habitats, etc.. I have dabbled with video since 1976, but only this year has it become good enough and affordable enough to hold my interest. We will be adding some 2003 video from an ecological investigation, shot on Mini DV tape. Equipment has come a long way.... We are now using Nikon Z8 in a Nauticam housing, with Keldan lights. The videos are mostly unlisted at the moment (on YouTube, so severely compressed!) so the best way to find them is via the website; link below. Note they are mostly 4K so to see the full quality you need to pop them out full screen on a monitor which handles 4K. In 2025 we hope to start seriously trying to get more close-up footage, but this year we shot mostly with a 14-30 mm lens. We have simply cut together footage from each dive as the main aim is to represent individual dive sites at different times of the year to better understand differences between sites over time and by season. In a world of changing climate and increasing human pressures we need to increase ocean literacy and record the current state of nature. https://www2.habitas.org.uk/marbiop-ni/sitelist.php Bernard
  2. Hi all, I've been diving since I was at Bristol University in 1970 and taking underwater photographs since about 1975. My main interests are marine biology related, photographing marine invertebrates, fish and seaweeds, but especially nudibranchs. Mostly UK, Norway and colder waters, but also almost anywhere with sea water! I started with Nikonos II and home made strobes, then Olympus OM-1 in an Ikelite, later Nikon F3, F4, D70, D200.... I'm here to try and keep up with equipment and techniques and meet fellow underwater photographers. Currently using a Nikon D600 in Subal with Inon Z330 but just starting to use a Z8 in Nauticam with Retra strobes. Bernard
