Hi all. Just wanted to give everyone an update to my flooded camera situation and some good news! After some testing by a local camera shop the camera and lens were in fact dead (no surprise). But what was a surprise was that the UW Technics flash trigger and Nauticam housing electronics are working just fine and don't appear to suffer any corrosion from the ordeal, so kudos to both Nauticam and UW Technics! The second thing I'd like to bring to the community's attention is that that dead camera just may worth something to someone. I really hate throwing things away even when they are damage beyond repair I'll normally take them apart and look for parts that I might be able to use sometime in the future (think switches, stainless screws, bolts and the like). And sometimes I turn to Ebay thinking someone out there might be able to use this camera or lens for parts. I priced the auction just to cover my handling costs plus shipping and in this case the bidding went a little crazy I think. I sold the camera body and lens for almost $350! The cost of the new lens.

I have a bunch of pictures that I could submit here. I'd love to do more ID-ing myself, but I don't no where to start sometimes. I'll start with these two. From North Sulawesi a week ago. Being a former aquarium nut I take a lot of pictures(some pretty bad ones) just to have a record, so I can ID it later. The first time I can remember being able to stump my guide with the little silver and black guy. I'm guessing its a juvenile and it dances like a juvenile Sweetlips. TIA

I do a lot of shore diving both in Florida and Bonaire. The walks aren't particularly long, but I've found that by using my regular carrying strap(no pic, sorry) and hanging my rig from a chest high D-ring on my BCD with a carabiner works quite well. Once in the water it stays there until my fins are on and I'm ready to submerge. I also did a day of diving with a boat in the keys that would not handle cameras. I did a back roll with the camera attached this way and I found I can climb a ladder quite well using this method. First and only time for that operator.

Oh, on the upside part of my trip here coincided with Alex's workshop and he showed a wonderful presentation of the participants' favorite pictures last night at dinner. For those of you who are on this site (I would suppose all) I just wanted to say WOW! And thank you for the show. My group really enjoyed it.

Thanks for the reply. I kind of figured that to be the case. I did turn the camera on so I'm guessing the camera electronics are destroyed

I all. Had a catastrophic flood this week while in Lembeh. Totally my error, a bit embarrassing really. Anyway. The housing(Nauticam) and camera were totally submerged for 5 minutes or so. Got back to the boat, took apart the setup and submerged all in the freshwater tank for an hour. I then dried it all and clean all electric contacts with alcohol that I could reach, then packed in rice. I feel pretty good that the housing is save able. I'm planning on sending it in to be cleaned and Flash trigger and alarm circuit were not enabled. Any thoughts on whether its worth it to have someone look at the camera and lens? Sony A6600 and Nauticam housing. TIA
