Flatworm, Ctenophore???

  1. Hi Gang,

     

    Anyone have any idea what this is? It was about 5cm across:

  2. Benthic ctenophore, Coeloplana meteoris. Did you see the feeding tentacles coming out of the two lobes?

  3. They are reasonably common on the muck sites in Bali - saw them in several places on the North Coast. My guess was benthic ctenophore, but nobody in my group was convinced!

    Those ctenophores really get around! They have a gulf of mexico species that drifts midwater and lights up when it bumps into things...

  6. I found a Coeloplana tucked in the 'armpit' of a starfish at Wakatobi. Guess it was just a commensal hitchhiker.
