Ok, I've been away from the forum for a while ... keeping busy with normal life. It leaves me wondering if any significant progress has been made in equipment over the last couple of years.
I'm shooting a Nikon 5000 in an Ikelite housing with DS125. Battery life is marginal, the rig is bulkier than it really needs to be, shutter lag is awful, etc. But, has anything come out that would improve any of that? I know there are newer cameras with more pixels, but that doesn't impress me, because the 5 I've got work well enough. I'm mostly interested in ergonomic improvements and speed.
Thanks!
There are new models in the market with a lot shorter shutter lag than before.
The ones I remember for now are the Fuji 801, Sony V3, and I think that also the Nikon 8400 and the new S&S cameras where mentions.
There are a lot of discussions in this forum about thus issues and also some reviews so you have to investigate and see if its justify for upgrading.
There aren't many reports around about it yet, but the Fuji E900 looks promising and may solve the lower battery life that the F810 suffers from. Check on digitaldiver.net and see if Dr Bob has used his yet.
Oooops, I meant F810 of course not 801
If Fuji will solved the battery life and the RAW writing time issues its will be really a great camera.
I want to upgrade my wife's Canon S50 and sought also about the 810 but especially the battery life is disturb me to do it.
