Canon 60mm EF-S with teleconverter?

3 posts
  1. I was thinking that adding a 1.4 to 2 X teleconverter to the Canon 60mm EF-S macro might be a handy option for those situations where you need a longer working distance. However neither my Canon or Kenko teleconverters will accomodate the EF-S mount. Does anybody know if there is such a thing available or if some hack exists?

  2. The only way currently to use a teleconverter on an EFs lens is to place an EFs compatable extension tube between the lens and the teleconverter.

The only extension tubes compatable with EFs is the version II of the Canon brand tubes.

Here is a link to the piece you need.

With this you should be able to use either of your teleconverters, but you will loose infinity focus. On the posative side, it will increase your maximum magnification. 1.68:1 when you use a 1.4x and 2.35:1 with a 2x

  3. Thats excellent information - thanks William. Has anybody actually tried that? I wonder what the resultant image quality will be like.
