Nikon 9 mm DX???

  1. Too vague

  2. Reading down the dpreview discussion I think that this is most likely a new wide rectilinear prime lens. With a fast aperture and (hopefully) better optical quality than the wide angle zooms about the place at the moment.

I wonder if it has the same filter slot as the 10.5mm and the non-DX 14mm Nikkors?

  3. This appears to be another one of these "oops we let the cat out of the bag" mistakes that are becoming a common way to pre-hype new equipment.

If true, it also would lead one to speculate that a full-frame 35 mm chip is not in the near future for Nikon. A 114+ degree rectilinear fast prime would certainly be compelling to underwater photographers.

  4. Good catch Phil. It looks like a digital replacement for their venerable 14mm f2.8 lens. I've posted the pic on the homepage because I think it's legit.

Edit: Never mind, the poster admitted that it's a hoax. He used a photo of a 14mm Nikkor and photoshopped on the AFS Switch and the Nameplate. Dang!

    Cheers

  5. The AFS switch was a bit of a give away, IMHO. The elements don't move very far in a wideangle lens as it is, so it is hard to see where they would benefit from an AFS system.

  6. I'd love to see Nikon make some wide angle prime lenses. If they're sticking to the APS size, a 9 and 13mm would be nice.
