Given even the existance of the D200 is questionable. Do you think there is any chance the D200 could be retro fitted into any of the D100 housings, say like Aquatica?

Close, but no cigar

From looking at the photos on the internet, it is looking very close! The trick is to line up the centerlines of the LENS for each photo, then see where the controls lay. The lens has to be in the center of the port opening if you want to shoot wideangle.
The D200 will probably need to move up a bit to get the center lined up. It doesn't have nearly as much "meat" under the lens as the D100 and D70 - interesting. That means a block under the camera. It also means that the top buttons and shutter release may be a problem.
A lot of the buttons won't line up, but who uses those anyhow...;-)
That Subal ND10 housing on Ryan's website is looking pretty good right now, eh? :-)
Cheers

Gee James, are those photos to scale?

Well, it may work. Grind a little off the inside of the house. Maybe cut some plastic off the camera here and there. Add a couple of shims to and fro. Maybe solder some extensions to the pins/buttons...... Don't forget the plastic wood and duct tape. Heck all you need is the camera in a stationary position with lens positioned properly, shutter release and maybe aperture dial. The rest of the buttons are luxury items.
