Wideangle Lens for 350D

  1. Hello,

I have a 350D and am about to get a Ikelite housing for it. I also have a 17-85mm lens but have been told that Ikelite cannot make the ports fast enough to keep up with demand? I am going to Western Australia in a month and kind of need a port fast!

As I can see on this forum, a wide angle lens is recommended over something like a 17-85 and I prefere to take landscape/wreck shots anyway. So what Canon lens would you recommend?

I also have a 60mm EF-S lens and so will be getting a 5502 port anyway, so if the wide angle will fit in this then it would be great.

    Cheers,

    Rob

  2. Hi Rob,

Welcome to wetpixel! I've never heard about Ikelite having supply problems, as far as I know they always keep up with demand!

As for the Canon wide angle lens, I would suggest the 10-22, there is a lot of people using it and getting very good results. Unfortunately you will need a different port for that (you can't use the same that you use with your 60).

I hope this helps, and I am sure you will get some feedback from more knowledgeable Canon users soon.

  3. I second what Luiz said. You'll get a lot of use out of a wider zoom lens. Canon makes a 10-22 and Sigma makes a 10-20. With that and your 17-85, you've got 10-85mm covered.

    Cheers

    James

  4. I have the Canon 10-22mm lens with Ikelite housing + ports. Works great, though is rather snug in the #5503.50 6" dome port due to the diameter of the lens and zoom gear ring.
