olympus warranty scam

1 posts
  1. I sent my 6 month old olympus c_8080 in to olympus for warranty repair. One of the control buttons surrounding the ok button became stuck during my trip to bonaire. I managed to use my fingernail to pry the button back to an oporational position so I could finish taking pictures during my week . When I returned I sent the camera back to olympus for repair. They want to charge me $286 claiming that the camera was opened and tampered with and the warranty voided. When I pointed out to them that I never opened or tampered with the insides of the camera, I admitted using my fingernail to jigle the button to get it to allow the camera to fire, They said too bad it was their opinion that someone tampered with the motherboard and camera and I would have to pay to get the Camera back. RIP off Do not buy olympus. Their cameras are fine as long as you don't need warranty work
