Wide Angle strobe ques

  1. I'm not sure what to do about strobe coverage....

I was thinking about the negative space around the white tip was good, yet the diver may be too cut off.

  2. You are too far from the subject. The strobe light is not getting to the diver, and maybe just weakly to the shark, but it is strong in the coral on the foreground.

  3. Latter at the same dive site I took this shot, same settings although the shark is a bit closer

  4. The shark's lower lip is blown out. That will kill you in prints and contests. I think your background is a little underexposed.

  5. I think you need a nice zoom lens! I used to use a Nik V and 15mm exclusively and my shark shots always sucked because a 6 foot grey reef from 4 feet away always looked like a minnow... Then i got a N90 with an 18-35 zoom, my shark photos took off after that.

If you let us know what sort of kit you are using it would be easier to make some suggestions.

  6. I have been using a sigma 28/close focus lens on my Ike housed pentax with a dome port. I can focus on something within 6 to 8 inches and still have a wide angle such as the shark photos.

I've used elements to improve the blown out portion of the shark lip, does it look alot better?
