Newbe needs a camera

2 posts
  1. I am fairly new to diving and have always enjoyed photography. I am in the process of purchasing a digital camera for my land trips. My thought was to purchase one that could work both on land and in the water! Can anyone recommend a digital camera for a novice diver & Photographer? I don't want to spend thousands on a Professional one! Also, has anyone found that land and sea versions don't really work well in the opposite environment!?!?!

    Any advice will be welcome!

  2. Is point and shoot ok or do you want to learn how to shoot manual ?

What do you want to do with the pictures afterwards (view on PC, print, ...) ?

Is the size of the system important to you (as small as possible, ...) ?

Do you plan to use an external strobe (in the future) ?

How much do you want to spend on your new equipment (camera + housing) ?

So far there is only one digital camera designed (?) for uw usage ( see Reefmaster DC100) and even this one is a camera with an extra housing.
