  1. Fabien Costeau's wonderful and brilliantly hairybrained idea of getting really close to great whites:

    Here's the podcast and more

Maybe some instructions on how to build one of those get-close-machines should appear in the DYI projects section...

  2. i think Tin Tin beat him to it years earlier :-). There are also similar exploits on National Geographic / discovery channel.

  3. Hmmm Fabien should go on MTV instead.

Lots of people have had very close encounters with great whites outside the cage. Beyond Fear by Ralf Kiefner is now a Discovery or Nat Geo program. Mark Marks and others are in it without cage. I've done it too. They come right up to you to look at you like a grandma with bad eyesight and just ignore you. Had 2 10 min encounters with them in South Africa, which I think is probably the only place on earth you could get away with diving with them without a cage.

  4. Scubadru, did you mean you swam outside cage or actually posed as a fellow shark? That wouldbe way cool, we want to see the footage!

That's where he (Fabien) says he got the idea. Red Rackhams treasure is my least fav TT storywise, but it has a very cool cover!
