Help! Jonah Housing for Canon 10D

11 posts
  1. I, unfortunately, made the mistake a few years ago and bought a Jonah Housing for my Canon 10D. Jonah has now gone out of business and I am stuck.

This might be a fruitless effort, but:

    1. Does anyone know where I can get spare parts for the Jonah housing? O-rings, etc.? Maybe a warehouse or some store with spare parts?

    2. Does anyone know of a shop that will service/fix the housing in the unlucky (especially now that they are out of business!) event that I have a problem or a flood?

Thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Try Woody at www.nexusamerica.com

I think he was/is a dealer...he might have some parts, etc.

  3. Thanks...actually put a call into him earlier and have not yet heard back from him.

    Anyone else know anyone?

  4. Woody is away diving for 2 weeks...he left on Friday.

Try back 2nd week of December.

  5. It appears that they are still active, having just released a housing for the 20D. Here's a link to their dealer's network:

    Good luck,

  6. I thought they were up and running as well but Underwater Photo Tech dropped them about a year ago and when I called Ocean Brite (one of there USA contacts) they confirmed that they dropped them as well about a year ago and cannot find any more replacement parts because the owner of Jonah passed away and the company went under.

I am hoping Woody may be able to help me out. Other than him, I don't know of anywhere else to turn...I was hoping someone here might have a few suggestions.

    Thanks

  7. It's a bit far from where you are, but you could try the Singapore dealer (McHale Song, of Oceanic Focus). Spoke to him recently, and he's very helpful, and could probably get you the spare parts, at least.

  8. Hi,

I just talked with Dr.Kim ( He is a professor in POSTECH in Korea) (He was in hospital for sometime but, now back) & told him about your problem.

Please, send him an e-mail at: korean@postech.edu

& he promised to look. If you don't hear from him than, let me know.

    Sam

P.S.: I am not associated nor in business with him.

    Hi, Everybody....

This is Prof. KiTae Kim, ME Dept., POSTECH, S. Korea, the owner of Jonah Housing.

I am alive. I did not die, somebody spreaded wrong rumour. Huh.....

I was seriously ill once in a while, but I recovered my health now.

I did not shut down the company and I will keep produce new models,

few but reliable and affordable housing until I retire from the University.

After that, I will do full time job housing maker....

Recently, I also prepared some brand new Canon 20D housings more reliable

    than old 10D housings.

If anybody need repair parts for my products, I will ship it to you FREE....as long as the

    first owner keeps the housing.

    Send me e-mails: korean@postech.ac.kr or korean@postech.edu

    Thanks.

  10. Hello Prof Kim - good to hear from you and that you still stand by with support for the Jonah housings.

In my business (offshore engineering) we are working with many Korean companies (DSME, SMI, etc) and they improve each year and now make excellent products.

I'd be delighted to lend advice if you're interested in hearing what's currently popular for underwater use.

    Cheers

Thank you for your short note.

I will appreciate if I can hear any news about popular underwater use.
