I was given this 14" x 5" light with a plexiglass case, two large batteries wired together, a lid with a switch and cable leading to a reflector housing. The bulb is covered by a thick test tube of glass and seals with three o-rings. It was made by a company called The Underwater Connection out of Newport News. I have looked and can't find any reference to this light. I would like to get it working but have no markings on voltage, just the logo. Thanks for any info on this beast and parts.

Someone on the Beginner Forum said this looked like an old Dive Rite light. I called them and it isn't their's but they may be able to help me. The batteries are 12v wired together giving 24v. I have found some batteries that look similar, are 12v, will fit when wired together. They differ in amp hours: anything from 3 to whatever (depending on how much I want to pay). The Dive Rite rep asked if it was a 50w bulb. No idea because I can't find any markings. I am NOT an electrician, so I am looking for advice on battery selection. Maybe you buy as much bang as you can afford? I am assuming that a 12 Ah SLA battery is going to give me more time than a 7.2. I don't know how or if that effects the bulb. I also need to find out about bulbs (size, plug dimensions, halogen, etc). It seems that to recharge all I will need is a good quality automatic trickle charger.
Hope my questions are appropriate. I am dealing with something new to me and appreciate any info. That one hint I got has gotten me this far, so I think this is a worth while project. Just want to do it right.
Many thanks,
Jim
I found the Interstate Batteries has the SLA batteries that will fit and can be wired in series. Not too expensive, either. I just need to decide how many amp hour (more amps, more $$$). The o-rings are ok, but I want to replace just in case. Ideas for good sources. I am also wondering about bulb wattage. I would love to hear from someone who has used this type of rig.
