Anyone knows how to take apart a Nikonos connector

5 posts
  1. yep, anyone done this? I ordered a Nikon SB-800CX housing from Sealux with a standard Nikonos bulkhead (with spring loaded pins) and those idiots just sent me a bulkhead with fixed pins (apparently they install such Nikonos bulkhead variant in thir housings by default) which damaged my Ikelite Nikonos connector the moment in put it in. The nikonos connector seems quite difficult to take apart...any thoughts, suggestions to try to repair it?

    Help much appreciated.

  2. Do not try to repair your Ikelite connector - it's toast. If you're in the US just send it back to Ikelite.

Sorry for your loss - that is a pain.

    Cheers

    James

  3. I just fixed mine. Haven't dived with it yet... Apart from that it is working perfectly.

Just undo the screw / nut at the top if the connector and then slide everything back/up along the cord.

If you have Ikelite, or some other professional, within easy access I would recommend getting it to them! (Otherwise you have nothing to lose by trying.)

  4. Thanks Andreas, I did that but it is that easy, it does not really slide off it is pretty much stuck.

Anyway thanks all for the feedback.

  5. The rubber thing is glued. You need to loosen it by sticking something down the side of it.
