I have been very impressed with with the images I have seen here since joining, and would like to invite those of you who produce articles (complete with text) to consider if you may have a story Felix Features could distribute here in Norway. This is how we describe Felix Features on our website:
"Felix Features is a small, independent agency based in Oslo, Norway. We provide features and photo documentaries for Norwegian and foreign newspapers and magazines.
Felix Features came to be as a reaction to the superficial, shortlived and useless flow of information in our digital society. We aim to offer readers something more. Our features invite the readers to sit back and enjoy a good read, and see pictures that are more than mere illustrations to the text."
By representing the English agency Panos Pictures we already offer our clients stories from world class photographers (including several World Press Photo winners), but we also accept work from independent photographers. This is you where come in! However, we want to put the bar high, and though this invitiation goes out to you all, the complete package must meet a professional standard. We will only distribute quality material that meet certain criteria:
- we are looking for stories with a clear journalistic angle.
- the story MUST be of interest to non-divers too.
- quality pictures AND text.
- we cannot accept stories that are financed in any way by sponsorship.
Our clients are not dive mags, so the stories we are after must be interesting for the people in "the real world" too. In other words, pretty uw-pictures by themselves are not what we are looking for. However if you can put your pictures in a CONTEXT, and supply some relevant pictures (and text) of people and places topside too, then we're talking. This coud be stories about conservation, uw-archeology, the environment, exotic destinations etc.
So what can Felix Features offer in return? We know the Norwegian market for feature stories well, and offer a good chance of sale for those stories we choose to market. Norway is a small market, but usually pays reasonably well considering the limited circulation of magazines and newspapers. Felix Features practises "fair trade", giving the lions share (65%) of a sale to the photographer.
Look forward to hearing from you!
