Sudan in Jan

  1. I put a post about a trip I was going on to the Sudan in Jan. There is some availability and it is at a reduced price. I have no commercial interest but thought forum users here might like to know about it. But it seems to have been taken off. Don't know why. At the moment I get a cabin to myself so it's good for me!

  2. Hi John,

If you are on the Royal Emperor you should have a good time - we were on its fist commercial trip out of Port Sudan back in October.

The Umbria is a must see hilight though the vis there seems a bit hit and miss.

JC is a nice guy and the food is as good as it was when the boat was in the Red Sea.

Our only disapointment was total lack of big stuff to look at - maybe you will fare better, water temp was 32C which I guess may be why we saw no big sharks etc.

Take some pills with you - most everyone oon the boat was ill to some extent or other - side effect of taking on water in Port Sudan I guess.

Air Sudan is a total nightmare - take a good book - the flight schedules are at best only a wild approximation to reality...

  3. I worked as a dive guide there in 1992. I know JCS from Tiger Lily. I went there acouple of years ago on Connda Vennessa with Rosy. Should be a good trip.

  4. Hi John,

Be interested in your impression when you get back, after having been there in 92.

As I said the biggest shark that we saw was probably a 4' white tip, but it was kind of warm in the water.

    Paul.
