strobe arms/tray for oly

  1. After reading all the posts on strobes I have ordered a ys90dx for my olympus camera and housing. I am also ordering the fiber optic cable. Does anyone have advice on stobe arms/tray etc. I checked into ULCS, but they want $233, ouch! I guess if they are REALLY worth it, I will pay it. But I would rather save the cash for my next strobe. Any suggestions?

  2. I think the Fisheye tray is popular - it comes with a locline strobe arm. Check on underwaterdigital.net or Marine Camera Distributors for more details.

    Ultralight is the best, IMO.

  3. I went ULC with no regrets. Worth every penny when you buy a product that works perfectly and will last forever. One other thing to keep in mind your strobe arms and tray are keepers when you move to a different camera system, so the investment can be justified over a longer period of time.

  4. Go with Ultralight, I have had 4 housings and 3 strobes in the past 2 years..Sold everything but the arms. It's like a good lense, something you never get rid of.

  5. Where is a good web site to buy a ULCS strobe arm setup? I've been looking around with no luck. Any help would be great!

  6. I got mine from Helixcamera.com You have to call them.

I would also try the Wetpixel sponsors - you might be able to get a better deal on a complete set.

  7. I'm pretty sure you can order direct, I did. I called Dave (owner) up and asked if I could stop by to make sure the tray would fit my housing. No problem and he gave me a bunch of extra orings and a few extra knobs. He's really cool, don't hesitate to call him to ask questions about custom stuff.

  8. I ordered direct. They great, just call them up.

  9. Can you use the S&S Multi Stay with the PT-015? Would this be used as your tray?

Another option might be to use the Sea and Sea DX stay ($60) and the Sea and Sea flexible light arm ($80) or Sea and Sea DX arm ($60). Anybody have any positive or negative comments about this set-up?

At least you can always upgrade to Sea and Sea Arm VI at a later time.

is ULC =Utralight, and where can you find these at besides Helix camera (didn't see it listed)? How much does the tray and arms run for?

  10. Any packages for the YS-90?

  11. Ike,

Why not come out with a dual Ds 125 package that comes with 2 strobes, the dual TTL cable, arms( or not) , and a rapid charger?

  12. Go Ultralight. I ordered mine direct as it was really hard to get info about it in Australia. Terry was fantastic - walked me though it all the way - including borrowing the S&S tray from a friend and testing if the handle fitted before shipping.

Yes the S&S Multi Stay will fit the PT-015 - that's what I use. I like the dual angled arm connectors and there's a brace on it that prevents the PT015 from spinning.
