20 d aquatica with 17-85

  1. does not appear that camera can be removed without removing the dome port -- is this correct?

what diopter should be used with this combination?

has anyone used the 100 macro with the dome port?

  2. Using the macro in the dome is no problem in itself, usingit behind a flat port will give an added +/- 25% magnification in a more streamlined package. Getting close in the nooks and cranny with a dome can be fustrating, the narrow profile and increase in magnification is the reason we shoot the flat port, but hey if you dont have the port yet, shoot behind the dome by all mean, as far as diopter, I dont recall the 17-85 needing, but if it does a +3 would be suitably matched to the optical formula of the 8" dome, i'm far away from the office so I don't have the spec off hand (plus I shoot Nikon personnaly) but check your lens speck if your lens can focus from 16" or closer your are good to go.
