Panasonic NV-GS 400 and underwater housings

4 posts
  1. I have been considering to buy a Panasonic NV-GS 400 mini-dv camera and a appropriate underwater housing for it. Main usage for the set would be during holiday trips abroad so it needs to be light enough to carry around. (That's why I'm looking for a small sized camera.) I'm also going to use the set a lot in swimming pool conditions.

Currently I have a Top Dawg system, but lanc in it does not work very well any more and I need to change the camera anyways.

At least Sealux seems to make housings for the NV-GS 400 and it looks like all right quality in their web site http://www.sealux.de/s1e.htm.

Does anybody have experiences on the Sealux DS400 housing (for Panasonic nv-gs 400)?

Do you know other quality housing makers which have housing for the NV-GS 400?

Any comments on the Sealux housings in general?

  2. Hi lumiukko, welcome to Wetpixel.

Trying to think if anyone here uses the model you are asking about (not really sure) but i don't think so.

I don't have any direct experience on Sealux but there are a few here who do. Camdiver uses Sealux and is very happy with it. He has used them for years and is a working video guy so puts it through the paces, that is a good reference i should think. From what i know they have a good reputation of a quality housing.

  3. i've been using an Equinox housing for my GS400 for the last year...the GS400 really takes very good video

the housing is pretty good, once you've sorted out it's little problems, like taping over the top drain holes on the glass dome so you don't get reflections on all your footage...

the camera also takes excellant photos through the red lens in the housing..

the Equinox housings are a bit cheaper the the Ocean Images one...also you cannot use the LCD display with the Equinox housing, which for me is better, as i get more battery life...
