Epoque 230DS AUTO - Question Help

  1. Hi folks

this is on behalf of a mate of mine.

Looking at getting one of these strobes, Does anyone have a PDF format MANUAL for this strobe.

Details on functions are not very good on websites.

    Questions are

I understand that this flash has 3 settings listed

    AUTO LOW

    AUTO HIGH

    ON

from what i can see, auto low deals AUTO flash in the LOW aperture Numbers selectable, AUTO HIGH deal with the higher Aperture End

what does the ON function do.. Is this a MANUAL mode, and then you adjust the GN of the gun using the Power/f-stop Selector ?

    Thanks in Advance

  2. Yes.

    Also...

In manual mode (On) the strobe triggers on the first flash (no preflash cancellation).

  3. Hi ,

and in auto mode the preflash cancle is allways on so if you use a synccable to connect to a cam there will be a problem ..... most of the cams with a strobe hotshoe do not trigger a preflash at the hotshoe without a system flash connected

so the strobe PCB will cancle the first trigger signal by the preflashcancle mode in auto setting ... but there is no second flash ...... so the auto mode will not work !!!!! with single flash cams..... only (on ) manual mode will work ........using the optical cable connectetd to the internal strobe of the cam it will work if the cam sets a ( one ) preflash the main flash is controled by the strobe sensor and the f

stop setting ( same as the cam is set ) .... this is a non TTL compatible strobe ......

it is only a manual auto strobe .......

    Michael

  4. Hey Mike

    Nice to hear from you

, Thanks for the information, I've push robert onto getting a Ys90 and one of your TTL converters.

So that clears is all up

    regards
