Just paste this sucker to the inside of the housing and plug it into the mic jack. I bet it'd work pretty well. For the price I might pick one up and try it.

i bet it'd work pretty good at catching the sound of the camcorder WHIR!!!
Hey I use a Sony not a Canon.
What motor noise? Besides I doubt it would pick up more than the internal mics on the camera.
I capture 99.9% of my uw video without sound. Bubbles are boring. About the only time I used uw sound was when a great white bit the cage. And that came through great with the camera's internal mic.
You mean you don't give an underwater running commentary while filming? Anyway I keep seeing all these post looking for an underwater mic and figured I'd throw something out. I agree that the sound is generally boring but there is quite a bit of sound underwater. Fish chomping on things, Rocks crackling in the surf, Boats cruising by, Someone pounding on an overhead obstruction while trapped in the wreck you just shut the door on. ![]()
I disagree about bubbles and ambient diving noises being boring, but they definitely need to be in the background layered under the music track and any VO. I think they add to the viewer's feeling of 'immersion' so to speak - but to each his own...
Can get boring tho' having to edit out dive computer alarms in SoundTrack Pro when you are hurtling to the surface chasing that big pelagic!
not enough room in my housing for the phone.... ![]()
