7-Mile Beach Squrrel Fish

  1. I took this on diving in ~14 feet of water off 7-mile beach outside my hotel. Despite the barren coral and 1/2 mile swim there was lots to see at $6/tank. 14 feet max depth will do wonders for you bottom time too.

I like this pic because I actually got eye contact here and rather by accident, the eye and fish ended up on a third. The background isn't very interesting however, but I think the size of the fish in the frame and "action position" make up for it. somewhat.

Please tell me what you honestly think.

The setup is the same as before Canon digital elf, DS125 strobe with slave sensor on manual 1/8. The camera was set to manual, cloudy, -2ev. The camera chose f4.5 1/79 sec (as a beginner I'm guessing I should have had a higher shutter speed here with the motion? ) 707 mm subject distance.

  2. Two failings:

    Foreground rock & slow shutterspeed/lag

  3. It's funny you posted this shot. I took this picture near Rum Point in shallow water. I was on my elbows on the sand courting this squirrel fish, when my wife started pointing down to my groin area. (cont.)

    Nikonos V, 15mm, ISO 100

  4. When I looked down, I saw this looking up at me from between my legs.
