I'm looking for operators for topside great white photography in South Africa, and was hoping that some of you could share your experiences. Who did you go with, and what were your experiences like?

Have you considered Chris and Monique Fallows?
I have not photographed WS with them but, dove with them with Abernethy's. Very nice people. Actually if memory serves correct you met them at DEMA one year. I know Watt and Fleetham have dove with them in the past.

Thanks, Todd. I've met them a couple of times, and have considered all sorts of operators.

But what I really want are anecdotes about trips with operators down there.

I recently came back from a sharkdiving/spotting trip in South Africa for the second largest newspaper in the Netherlands and a Diving Magazine.
Some of the images I made that trip you can find here: www.fotograferen.net/shark
These guys are among the best to dive within South Africa:
Brian McFarlane
The no.1 Cage-diving company right now, good operation and basically 100% sightings. Although very commercialized they run things well and. Maybe a bit too many rehearsed jokes but they really didn't stop untill everyone had their go and saw some whites from the cage (making me almost miss my plane because of our late return).
Andre Hartman
Doesn't have a boat right now, but this is the guy who started lifting Whites out of the water by holding their noses. He does snorkeling and diving with Whites without cages! Perhaps one of the nicest persons on this planet, a mix of the Gentle Giant and Capitan Nemo. This guy can just keep on tell about Whites. Make sure to ask him to bring his videotapes, some of the stuff he does is amazing (like holding the dorsal fin of a 15 feet white like it's a Dolphin).
Mark Addison
Tigershark diving without cage [Durban area]. Couldn't believe his description of the massive and very feared sharks: "oh they're just big pussycats" and "you might have to push them away because they like camera's". Some of his videofootage at home is seriously unbelievable, not surprisingly he's the choice of the BBC, Discovery and Natgeo.
Trevor Krull
Diving with raggies [Durban area]. A very nice person, very genuine but saddened about the loss of habitat of his beloved sharks. He's seen 80% decline in the 10 years he's been doing sharkdiving. He's got the nicest guesthouse to stay ass well.
