Short term solution !!!

  1. Hi all,

Once again if this has been covered sorry

How stupid of me not to try this out. But I've just put my A1 into my old 950 dive buddy plus housing, connected the lanc and hey presto a short term answer. It works well apart from having no tele-macro, expanded-focus or manual white balance.

It just uses the original hand grip- lanc controls: Variable zoom/wide, manual focus, record and on off. I will try it out this week with the outdoor W/B setting.

At least it will make do until the arrival of the PRO EVO..

Hope this helps people for now.

P.s I forgot to say that the plate you screw it on to is not compatible. I've sat it in the housing and wedged it in with a couple of socks :o for now. Keeps it sturdy.

  2. Does the lens line up correctly?

  3. Hi Mike,

Yes mate, Hap handed as it might be. I have now bought some sponges from my mate at the local auto-spares and wedged it in. All is well.

This has taken a lot off my mind (for now)

  4. If you have the tools, which i am going to try.. you could re-align the screw on the plate to fit.

If there is any half decent techno heads out there you could probably wire up the housing to control the other functions.

Lets do it and put some pressure on Amphibico... YEAH !!!

  5. haha - great minds Dean, you must have the same fiscal constraints that I do ...

See my post today on the HD thread. I'm refitting my 950 housing too. The base mounting plate needs an extra hole tapped to slide the A1 further back to align the lens and allow a w/a converter, and I'm drilling a hole for manual WB - other than that a little rewiring and Bob's yer uncle!

With NO mods I get on/off; zoom, auto wb; no room for the w/a; and viewfinder only. However, it is workable and waterproof to depth. $250-300 of rewiring and tapping gives me a totally new HDV housing

  6. I'm getting a like new TRV950 with L&M Bluefin housing - I would love to see some type of mod to take the HC1 once I can afford it...

Anyone know if L&M is doing mods on these housings?

  7. L&M has told me they are doing modifications. They replace the back plate, camera tray and update the circuitry in the hand grips. The flat port should work fine but I believe the 80degree wide lens may present light fall off issues at the edges. I believe the whole thing should cost less than $1400.

  8. I've tried my HC1 in a Top Dawg which is a modifed L&M Stingray. All was good since Lanc commands are pretty universal. I say cheers to you who figure out the least expensive way to take a camera underwater. Being creative starts there.
