E5000 and SB104

  1. I am using a E5000 in a subal housing together with a SB104 and all exposures are overexposed. could it be that the SB104 is to power full and are there people who have experience with the S&S YS90 DX?

  2. I have used the E5000 underwater with the Nikon SB102 - the older sibling of the SB104. It is a very powerful strobe, and I think that sometimes, the camera cannot quench it fast enough. Use the Flash +/- to dial in AT LEAST -1.0 on the flash. I also used the E5000 with the YS90dx strobe in combination with the 102 (dual strobes). I liked the combination because I could use the 90DX as a versatile slave flash.

So - no, I don't think the 104 is "the problem." Learn how to use your system and you will start to see good results. It takes practice. You cannot put the strobe in close for macro shooting.

Once you start to use the excellent nikon 19mm lens w/ your E5000, you are going to want that SB104.

  3. E5000, is that the Nikon CP 5000?. If so their are a number of posts on setting for getting good strobe exposures with the camera. For Macro, go to F8, shutter to 1/250th to 1/500th, and back off the strobe 1 1/2 to 2 ft from your subject. Also in the camera menu set speedlite control to -2.

If these don't work, you may have a problem with your synch cord. Or your camera has a defect. I can use the above settings with my DS125 and set the manual power at 1/8th and get good exposures or set it to TTL with the above settings and also get good exposures.

  4. Yes E5000 is the European designation for the camera.

    Forgot to mention that.
