Ikelite DS-125 Strangeness...

2 posts
  1. SOme strangeness this weekend with my rig. Ike D70 iTTL housing, two DS-125's, dual synch cable, etc. etc. You know the drill.

This weekend the rig wouldn't fire. Not at all. Hmmm.... The yellow TTL light is on. I can power up one red LED at a time, and power down. Everything looks OK. It just won't smap a pic. The camera won't snap.

I looked at the strobes, and one has a green light, the other had a red light. Hmmm.... Never seen this before.

So I turn everything off. I turn them both back on. One red, one green. I turn off the green one, and the camera is now able to shoot a pic, and the red one fires.

So I shoot the day in Macro with one strobe.

I get home, and tonight I've charged everything and put it all together. One green light, one red. All the same. I trade strobes on the dual cable, and the one with the green light just doesn't work.

When I shake the dual synch cord, the one with the red light fires and fires...

    Hmmmm....

I hook up the single synch cord, and the one that has the red light works perfectly. The one with the green light still won't fire.

    I hate green.

I'm gonna call Ike tomorrow and walk through this. I'm gonna be hating life if they want me to send in both strobes and the housing back and the cables and....

    OY.

  2. It sounds as if you need to send the strobe with the green light to us for repair. The green light is a confidence light that lets you know your strobe has quenched in TTL mode, it should only stay on for 2-3 seconds after a quench. There may be a problem with the micro-controller in the strobe.

"When I shake the dual synch cord, the one with the red light fires and fires..."

If the strobe is auto firing when you shake the cord, then the cord needs to be returned to us also.

It sounds like your housing is working correctly. There is no need to send it or the working strobe to us.
