DX version of Nikon 14mm?

7 posts
  1. Has anyone heard anything about a possible DX version of the Nikon 14mm lens? Guess it would be around 9.5mm DX or so. Even though I love using the 10.5 fish eye, there's lots of times when I wish I had a rectilinear lens of that width. Some shapes and forms just dont do well in a fish eye.

  2. Everyone wants it, Thom Hogan predicts it will happen this year (and he has a better-than-average track record) ... but Nikon has said nothing, as far as I know.

  3. A 14mm DX would be nice. Somehow I suspect that Nikon will come out with one, and they will ask $750.

  4. I'd prefer a 12-24mm AFS F2.8. As good as the 17-35mm AFS was on film. And I'd hope that would cost >$1500 to show they have but some effort into it!

  5. Desert, maybe you mean the same, but im not looking for a 14mm DX, but a 9 or so mm DX, equivalant to the current 14mm rectilinear wide angle.

  6. nikon makes a 10.5 dx which is a fun lens vz

  7. I have the 10.5, and its definately fun, but its a fish eye, not rectilinear. I was recently in the position to compare some images between the 10.5 and a 14mm and some images just turn out better with a rectilinear lens. Especially if you have strong horizontal lines.
