Barracuda ??

Hi all,

I'm looking for a good place to film schooling Barracuda. The rules are:

As I live in the U.K and kinda skint it can't be to far away.

Any Idea's my pixler friends ?????

How bout Sipadan....

I hear its just down the Chunnel....

Closer to home is Shark Reef at Ras Mohammed.

That is where Wetpixel member frogmansub shot his award winning B&W Barracudas.

The denser schools of cuda I've seen were near Pemba Island and also St Lazarus, both in Mozambique. Of course there's the famous Sipadan swirling schools of cudas, but I haven't seen them that often over the point as before. In fact Sipadan isn't what it use to be 15 years ago. I hope it's all in cycles.

There's a great school off at Barracuda Point, Mary Island, Solomon Islands. The bonus is that you get to dive the rest of the Solomons.

Man that's more evil than me... but that's true... the schooling fish in the solomons are very good.

you call that a lot of baracuda !!

here in Cayman we get at least 3 of them together at certain times of the year !

Hmmm. I seem to have forgotten about the "close to the U.K." requirement.

Those photos above were taken during a magical dive at Mary Island. I swam off alone with the big barracuda school and parked myself right in the middle of it. They swirled around me for about 20 minutes, and during the entire time I could hear the skiff's engines as it followed my bubbles. I was on the Bilikiki; their crew is so good that you know that it isn't a big deal to swim away, as long as you can hear them following you.

Nice shots Eric I was nearly packing my bags at the thought of those beauties swirling round my head... Soloman's (hmmm $$$££££) Maybe another day.

Biggest school I saw was on Blue corner, Palau.. Fantastic.. Crappy 1chip camera though

Maybe the word will get round and a school will make its way up the Thames
