My wife Dawn & I have just finished publishing a book titled Reef Wreck & Critter, it is a high quality/full colour guide to the dive sites of the Tulamben area in Bali. It's available at most dive centres in Tulamben or via our website at www.tulamben.i8.com
The book was shot using Olympus point & shoot digital cameras - specifically the C5050Z & C4000 in Olympus housings - and who needs an SLR!
Congratulations, it looks like a fun book:) I love tulamben. Over how long a period did you shoot the images (how long did it take you to get all the shots you needed for a book)?
Looks nice. And also an ideal size to buy as a souvenir when staying in the Tulamben area.

Hi Jbonehoss & Alex
Thanks for the comments. It took us about 7 weeks of diving and photography last year to complete the image side of things, but 25 years of diving/visiting the area to get to know the dive sites and marine life hang-outs. We just love Tulamben - the people are great, the diving is so easy and the critters are just jumping at you!
I'll have a look for it when i am there in October. Definitely looking forward to Tulamben!
Congrats on your book!, since you use olympus non DSLR maybe you can help me with something... how you set the flash to work TTL with the strobe in "Auto" or "Slow1" mode??? any hints about olympus works with this would be helpfull, you definitly knows how to manage an olympus.....
Congrats!
Hope to see the book and the places you shot there in the future someday.
Hi rodriguezfelix
I am sorry to tell you, but I don't use TTL. All of my images are shot using manual exposure. I use the Inon Z220 strobes (2) which have manual power settings. I find by using the 'My Mode' functions of the Oly 5050 I can change from macro to wide angle or fish portraiture in a couple of seconds. With these strobes I find that I use mostly 3 different power settings for 95% of shots. So it isn't all that complex, plus you are more in control of exposure. I use the Inon optic fibre cables, rather than electrical connection cables, I have had so many failures of electrical connection cables over 30 years of uw image taking and have not had one problem with the optic fibre cables in nearly 2 & 1/2 years and lots&lots of photos.
My wife Dawn uses the Oly C4000 with either inbuilt flash (on manual exposure) or a small Sea & Sea YS25 Auto, which has an auto function, but not TTL either. Once again she uses the 'My Mode' function with the camera on manual exposure. She had never used a camera underwater until a year ago and has never used the auto exposure capabilities either.
Hi Jeff,
I saw a copy of your book yesterday. Congratulations. I recognised many familiar faces from my own diving in Bali!
I am sure that the book will be a big seller to divers visiting Tulamben. It is a perfect souvenir.

Thanks for the comments Alex -
Hopefully we may be able to catch-up if your ever back in Tulamben and we can show you some of our newly discovered sites & creatures.
