Hi,
I'm still very new to the craft of underwater cameras. Yup really wonder why they use optic fibre to control the strobe. As i'm a student involved in designing a new underwater camera...ha i need to find that out.
Thanx a lot

Under certain conditions an optical slave may not fire properly if does not see the master flash. An optical slave will also frequently randomly fire the strobe in shallow water when a rays of light, focused by ripples on the surface, hits the sensor.
Fiberoptic cables avoid both of those problems.
oh meaning they make use of light sensor in optic fibre attachment also? just that light will be contained.?
Correct, the cable simply routes the light from the master strobe to the slave's sensor. Caps on both ends can be used to block ambient light.
