Sony DSC-P200

  1. Has anyone used the Sony DSC-P200 with the Ikelite housing? I am going snorkeling and wonder if it's a worthwhile purchase. I have used the Ewa-Marine bag with a Sony f717 in the past, and although it was watertight, it was extremely unwieldy. However it is also significantly cheaper than the Ikelite. Any feedback would be appreciated.

  2. Marine bags are nice for snorkeling, but if you want versatility and durability try the housing. Worth the extra cash.

  3. Thanks for the info. I've heard that Ikelite housings are sturdy. Are they cumbersome on land? Part of my concern is that the housing is more costly than the camera was. If the P200 is capable of decent underwater pictures, I would be willing to spend the money. If it is not, I'd be more inclined to purchase another point-and-shoot with (1) a better likelihood of good pics and (2) one with a less expensive housing (Canon S80, A620, Sony W7, etc.). I've read that the rapid focusing of Sony's are beneficial for UW use. I will only be using it for snorkeling, rafting, watersports/beach use, and not for any diving.

  4. Stick with the marine bag my friend.... It´s what you need.
