I just got my Aquatica A300 and was quite surprise to se how easy is to un-screw the port (macro/wide). I have a tetra 3030 and the lens has a lock mechanism ...very hard to remove if you do not move a button.
I'm really afraid that a quick move will make the port loose and therefore flood my housing.
What do you know about the potential risk? How to address it? Am I going paranoid?
Thanks
I had an Aquatica and as far as I know the pressure from the water will lock it tight, most ports will move if you try them above water but below they tighten up, just be sure to test it on a dive without the camera inside before you use it.
I put a mark on where the ports should line up. Just a visual indicator that the ports are in place.
Have never had a problem with mine. I think its quite a nice set up actually
Yep, never had a problem with mine. I have only seen it moved 1/2 inch or so and that occured on the skiff. That is where I would always check your port. Just when it is handed to you recheck to make sure it is still fully secure. It is very secure under water.

Hi All,
Thanks for the multiple replies. I liked the idea of marking the stop with a line. I guess will have to be extra careful on the surface...one more thing to worry. But, I think the setup will be worth it !

When Aquatica moved on to bayonet ports some years back (I fondly recall their housings and screw-on for the Nikon F3 and F4s), I too had that initial concern. Subal once had a difficulty with them at one point (a far too elastic o-ring could easily be pinched during mounting) Also, there was always a tiny bit of play ("tilt") even when properly mounted; but, like a previous member noted, the external water pressure ensures a tight fit . . .
Upon diving with their products for years (the A5000 was my first sojourn into digital, now the D2x), I have every confidence -- that, votive candles, and DAN insurance . . .
I have had no problems with my housing and have been diving in challenging conditions with ripping current and in nice calm waters. I've had no problems on land or underwater. That said I do have my rig insured.
