Charger power use?

4 posts
  1. I'm wondering whether my Sony and Olympus battery chargers (camera, video) will work directly connected in foreign countries, just using a receptacle adapter? Foreign meaning to the US.

Both the chargers say 100-240V 50-60 Hz on them.

Does this mean I can plug them directly into the wall, or do I still need a power convertor?

How does this power thing work, eh?

  2. The Sony charger works anywhere. I have one of those $20 multi-plug adapter kits - Sharper Image or Radio Shack sell them - to convert between plug types when necessary overseas.

  3. Look at the power adapters, if they say, 100-240 50-60hz, it will work anywhere in the world. All you need is a cheap adapter.

oh btw, be careful if you bring a power strip to other places. Some have surge circuits that will sometimes pop.

  4. Exactly the answer I needed. Thanks.
