Port problems

  1. Hi,

I’ve got a small problem that I hope that someone can help me to solve.

I’m on my way to buy a new uw-housing for my D200 but I travel a lot and I don’t want to carry with me four different ports. So I’m wondering if there are any uw-housing/port manufactures on the market that allow me to use only two ports but with different extension rings for the following lenses.

Dome port for Sigma 15mm FE and Tokina 12-24mm

Flat port for Nikon 60mm macro and Sigma 105mm 2.8 DX EG

Or do I have to change any of the lenses to make it possible?

    Regards

  2. Peter,

If you go with Ikelite, you'll need 3 ports and two dome extensions.

8" dome with medium extension for the 15 and a long extension for the 12-24

    flat port for the 60mm

    flat port for the 105mm

Most of the other manufacturers can accomodate your lenses with 1 dome port and 1 flat port and several extensions

  3. I think that with Seacam, you would only need 2 ports (FP and SPF 115) and 1 extension ring (30), but you should check with them, as there is no information on their websites for your specific WA lenses. This is based on extrapolations from similar lenses...

    Cheers,

    Mat

  4. With most housings, you will be able to use these lenses with one dome and one flat port and either one or two extension rings (I'm not sure which ring is needed for the Tokina, I used a 25mm extension w/ my Seacam dome).

    Cheers

    James

  5. For Ikelite, Karl's suggestion is the minimum solution right now. Ike hinted on the Ikelite website that flat ports based on the 8" dome are in the offing. Email Ike and find out how far off this would be.

Potentially, you could be down to 2 ports and 3 or 4 extension rings with Ikelite if this solution is available.
