Hello all!
This is the second year that a non-profit group of people from around Galdar (a small village in the north coast of Gran Canaria, Spain) has joined together with the townhall and other supporting companies in order to create a week full of ocean related activities such as chidren drawing competitions, several talks with experts about "Diving &Society" and "Marine Biodiversity", swimming competitions in the bay...and what is related to this forum: underwater pictures shows, 3 days underwater digital photograph course given by the two times world champion Carlos Minguell ( www.ocean-photos.com ) 
and an underwater photo competition both in film and digital with nice prizes (4500€ per category). I attended last year and it was a complete success...the best thing was the excelent spirit showed by everybody and getting to know a lot of people (okay free beer and food all weekend long helped too!!)
