D200 w/DS-125 cheat sheet needed

7 posts
  1. Last year when I began shooting the D100 in the Ikelite housing, with dual DS-125's, someone had put a "cheat sheet" on this site as a guide for beginning settings.

It was a place to begin menu adjustments and to make specialied adjustments from this beginning place all dedicated to UW shooting.

Has anyone come up with such a "cheat sheet" for the D200/DS-125 Ikelite Housing?

Love this board. Well done guys and dive cheerfully!

  2. since you have the same lights, the same cheat sheet will apply.

the only caveat. It really depends on what ISO you are shooting.

since the D100 can only go down to ISO200 and the D200 can go to ISO100, you just have to take into account that one f-stop.

  3. Exactly as LChan stated.

  4. would you mind posting that sheet?

  5. I don't understand why you wouldn't just do some test shots and view them on your camera monitor. There is plenty of room for F-stop flexibility to adjust in PS. That sheet is merely an overview. Shooting situations vary and almost always require bracketing to get it right. The technology of digital makes exposure a thing of the past.

  6. Guys, mostly it is whats called strobe to subject distance...

You get a little chart with your strobe that tells you what the fstop should be according to your ISO and your distance to the subject. Its a little sticker that comes with the strobe... just stick it on there...

As for natural light.. if its bright out, hi shutter is required, not so bright, slower shutter.

    A good starting point...

Before 9am and after 3pm- 60/s when shooting away from sun, 125/s when pointing to sun

Between 9am and 3pm- 125/s when shooting at sun, 250/s when shooting toward sun...

Try it and make adjustments, bracket those exposures and look at em in the screen, the biggest advantage of digital when learning to shoot
