Phenom carry-on size issues

3 posts
  1. I am trying to get a carry-on size case for my new Phenom which is on its way to me. Amphibico lists its size as:

    Length 18.3" (465mm)

    Width 13.6" (345mm)

    Height 10.1" (257mm)

Now I have read threads where Pelican style plastic cases attract thieves like magnets, but if I keep it all carry-on size, that should eliminate that issue.

Various luggage manufacturers as well asd airlines list the approx max dimensions of carry-ons as

    40-50 lineal inches.

It seems like a lot of case/luggage manufacturers have so called carry-on dimension compliant cases that are around 9" deep.

The Voyager 70L backpack as suggested is listed as a women's backpack, and I refuse to relinquish my Mojo, so that rules that out.

So my question is, is the Amphibico top handle easily removable?

  2. Yes, the top handle just unscrews with a simple allan key.. when you put it together remember to coat the screw with a little silicone

  3. You will not find a pelican case that will fit the phenom and be anywhere close to carry on size. You options are: carry in no case (Drew style), cary in a shoulder duffle (very heavy and back wrenching), carry in a carry-on roller that is deep enough (I have a REI carry-on roller that fits it (just barely)), or carry using a back pack (my preference after doing all of the prior versions).

Other manufacturers make similar packs to the eagle creek that will work. Just check the internal dimnesions and look for a pack the zips open as much as possilbe (easy removal of housing in security). 9in height pack should surfice. The North Face makes a similar pack to mine- the Big Shot(http://www.thenorthface.com/opencms/opencms/tnf/gear.jsp?site=NA&model=AMC1). do some surfacing and see what you find.
