20D Focus Lock

  1. Hi Guys,

I am shooting a Canon 20D in an Ike Housing and using a Macromate with my 100mm lens. I did a weeks diving with this rig on autofocus and have been reading that I might have an "easier" time by locking my focus or manual focus with the macromate. I know I can just switch off autofocus on the lens with a manual switch but don't think I can access this thru the housing which is kind of limiting when I take off the macromate underwater. From what I've read on my camera in a few books, the best way I've been able to lock the camera on manual focus is using Custom Function 4, setting #3. This lets me half press the trigger for exposure and then use the * button to kick in the focus if I feel the need. I was wondering if I'm doing this the best way possible on this camera. Resetting the custom function when I'm done is not hard..but its a few extra manipulations I wish I didn't have to make if possible.

    Thanx much!
