Was looking through some pics of dives I did a few months ago and came across these, though not the best pics it was a great dive. I was sitting at the edge of a 20m high pilar of coral watching the waves break onto it, because of the structure of this pilar I was able to sit arms length from the surf zone. There was a large number of bait fish swimming in the surf, when suddenly out of no where came a school of travelly. They raced in on the in coming wave and smash into the schools of bait fish to have a feed, they would then go back and wait for the next wave to catch back in.
While I was swimming around I also had this remora catch a ride
Just thought you might like a look, Picks taken out of Cairns Aust. with Canon Powershot G5

Cool shots.....nice job on the breaking waves

The foam/bubbles say a lot to any diver ... looks like a dynamic, exciting, dive!
Fun stuff, i have been doin wave stuff recently myself.. got the bumps and bruises to prove it...
It was relatively calm where I was, a slight bit of surg but that was about it. Had 20m of water under me, pretty much a straight drop down
Boo!! is best when your fins are breaking the surface and you get tumbled by the waves.. hahaha
Reminds me of this dive in Mauritius a couple of months back...
Same thing: the jacks came out of nowhere, hunted a school of fusiliers around for a couple of minutes, and then they were gone.
A very cool and exciting look at the trevallys in the breaking surf!!!
Thanks for showing!!
And great shot mattdiver also, I love 'under the surf' shots!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best, Carol
PS, those remora/sharksuckers are why I never wear a shorty!!! They get bored very quick with all my neoprene!!!
I was looking through the latest edition of Australasia Scuba Diver mag and came across your article Matt, well done. That picture you have posted here is a two page spread in the mag.
