Anyone use Sulawesi Dive Quest in Lembeh or Bunak?

  1. I'm thinking of going to Lembeh/Bunaken next month. I found this non-airconditioned operation that has a facility in Bunaken and one in Lembeh. The cost is about $75/day including 3 dives/day and room and board (3 meals).

Am I kidding myself or should I go with a more known resort. I want to keep this cheap so that I can get in 14-16 days of diving.

    Comments are most welcomed.

  2. I've stayed at most of the resorts in Lembeh. They all dive the same sites.

The one I'd recommend as the best combination of value for money and quality is Divers Lodge Lembeh

having stayed in lembeh a few times, i can say that though all the operators dive the same sites, you can't forget that you only get what you pay for. i have no comment to make on sulawesi dive quest as i have never stayed with them, but looking at the resort when passing in front of it, it only seems to confort me in my statement above.

LR and KBR though more expensive, certainly know how to cater to uw photogs and provide you with a memorable holiday. the guides really work hard at pleasign you but also at trying to protect the environment. that might not be the case with other resorts.

divers lodge has a good rep in terms of less expensive place, the concern i have with it is that it is located quite far south and you end up spending the day on the boat, which is ok if you don't have to use the camera room for any reason, but can be a real bummer if you need power, change or anythign to do on your camera.

if you do go, enjoy it is a wonderful place

  4. I stayed with Diver's Lodge last year, and can say that for the price I think it was a very nice operation.

At the time they did have power to charge batteries on one of the boats. I think they were going to add it to all of the boats.

Also, according to their website they now have nitrox.

Like Paul said they are on the southern tip of the island, so you do spend the whole day on the boat. But the boats are plenty big, and when I was there we never had more then 3 guests on the boat.
