When mounting a +2 diopter on the Phenom 2nd arm, do you put the +2 diopter on the upper arm furthest back towards the FX1 lens or is the lens closest to the FX1 the Urpro color correction lens...
I am thinking of changing it so that the color correction is closest to the FX1 and the +2 diopter is closest to the internal port of the Phenom housing...
I don't know if there are any optical issues associated with the color correction being slightly closer or slightly further away from anything....
Also, the bayonet piece on the FX1 that allows one to add the rectangular lens shade or remove it, does that system stay on the FX1 or is it supposed to be removed...seems like is is not removable from the FX1.....
Dave,
Not owning the FX1 housing you mention I cannot really suggest the best way to configure your diopters and filters. What you should bear in mind though is that by extending the distance from the camera to the filter will cause the filter edges to be seen in the camera field of view. One way around that would be to look at a slightly bigger filter diameter but then comes the problem as to whether or not it would fit in the housing.
Secondly the diopter. These diopters are obvioulsy designed to work when placed / screwed directly to the lens of the camera. If that distance is extended it will only reduce, if not render useless, the ability for the camera mechanisms to function correctly.
These are just my concerns and may be open to debate by others seeing as I don't own the housing you mentioned.
Cheers,
Mark.
HI Dave...the wetpixel site was down my end all day...hey I got some work done
Yes it's a tight fit. Try putting abit of sticky felt or similar on the back of the lens so the flip arm rubs on that as it swings into place.
The front of the camera does not come apart.
I was thinking of putting the red color correction arm closest to the FX1 lens, and the +2 diopter furthest away...the idea being the red color correction does not remotely protrude backwards in the holders whereas the +2 diopter does.....
It doesn't look like the bayonet end to the lens comes off...that would give me more clearance....
