  1. Can anyone tell me what these are? There was one squat cleaner shrimp nearby. So am leaning torward that, but I really not sure.

  2. Looks like some sort of larval crustacean with the two eye spots and antennae. Can't even fathom a guess (no pun intended) with the species. Maybe someone else has seen them before.

    Cheers,

    Marli

  3. I think they may be a group of hovering mysis shrimp. They are small but full grown.

  4. Definitely a crustacean of some sort. Looks like there's still a yolk sac or something still attached to the bodies. I'll send both images to a friend who studies crustacean life history & raises shrimp. Would certainly be nice to get Eric's mystery solved!

  5. Siince Jugglematt posted a similar mysid http://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23549 I thought it was time to get back to expatdiver's question. Sammy De G. had pointed me in the right direction a while ago. This appears to be the mysid Idiomysis tsurnamali on the sea anemone Megalactis hemprichi. It was described back in 1972 so it's fairly well known. Swarms of them can be found around this anemone and upside-down jellyfish in the genus Cassiopea. Eric's critter might be the same species or something quite similar.
