Just got back from a week in Palau aboard the Palau Aggressor II and wanted to share some shots. Still using my D70 in an Ikelite housing with dual SB-105 strobes. Camera and strobes on manual (usually shooting 1/4 power, sometimes 1/16). Mostly used my trusty 28-105 zoom lens. One dive with the 105 macro, one dive with the 20mm fixed (the Blue Hole shot is with that), and two dives with the 18-70 zoom. Mostly 400 ISO with some 800 mixed in.

Biggest disappointment was that, due to Cotnental's revamp of the Micronesia air sked, we had to skip Yap so I didn't get a chance to shoot with/torment (very closely related experiences) good buddy Mike Veitch. Next time, Mike.

  2. Ken, very good trip report....thanks for taking the time to document your trip....very informative and helpful for anyone considering this trip :o

You have a very nice collection of photos, but they are a little large and slow to download, even with the T1 line at work....you might consider file sizes closer to 650 x 488 otherwise you are going to lose a lot of people with slower connections....just my $.02 worth :):)

Interesting you should mention that. Normally I size them all at 650 pixels high. I recently did a poll of the people who get the weekly e-mails from our store and asked them if they preferred a larger size (which I included) or the smaller size. The overwhelming preference was for the larger size, and that's why I scanned these at 1000 pixels high. Not sure I'll be sticking with that, but we shall see.

Thanks for the thoughts and the kind words.

  4. HI Ken! Yea, too bad we missed each other this time around. Great trip report! Sad to hear about the Napoleans at the Corner. Glad you had some great weather though, and glad everyone on my old boat kept good care of you (btw its Bhoyet, no x in there..)

That's what I was thinking but it was hard to read his handwriting on the card.

  6. Hi Ken, Just perusing this blog and saw your name so I thought I would have a look. Don't know if you remember me but I went with you on one of your trips with friend Michelle. Ty Sawyer had set it up. Ended up doing a couple of things with the photos from that trip for SD.

Nice trip it looks like you had. You have some nice images and looks like a really good time.

  7. Nice stuff, Ken,

I particularly like some of the fish pictures. I am with Karl that I would prefer smaller images - as some of these are too large for my screen!
