  1. I have been wanting to start this for a while .. I haven't necessarily picked out all my best shots, and I have tried to keep only a small amount of images per space. This may change as I wade through yet more photos.

Making this little area was kinda a way of egging myself on to sort out my photos.

I thought I would share them with everyone as it is a very rare occassion that I do share my photos on wetpixel. That should change in the next week or so withthe Sardine run coming up !

anyways .. Click here to check out my new Portfolio Area

Also feel free to let me know what you think about the method of showing the images, and the images them selves. I was using Gallery 2 by Menalto but didn't like it or ever use it .. I decided this way I can make the galeries staically on my pc and uplaod when done .. I seem to prefer working on my PC rather than online.

  2. giles,

i like it, however there is one issue with the flash pages on a 1024x768 page. i have noticed this before with what seems the be the photoshop created flash galleries:

as the pages are generated from PS with the sidebars and your pages have a lot of information/empty lines at the top you can't see the entire photo especially when it is vertical. this issue exists both in ie 6 and firefox.

the only way around it i have found is to generate the images small enough so that you don't need the sidebar (or the bottom slider bar for that matter either)

edit: others may have a solution to this though...

    nice images though

anyway that was my 2p

    /paul

  3. Thanks ...

i thought that may be a problem ... i tested it and it happened to me .. it seems kinda pointless to make them smaller .. maybe i'll find a new flashgallery maker .. something where i don't have to size the images myself .. i'll tinker with the javascript html for now though .. shuld be fixable.

update: html fixed so that you can now see it no matter what size screen and resolution you have

  4. Also can't see the entire images, also the horizontals, my resolution is 1024X768.

I used Porta and SimpleViewer and like the result, it’s gives you some option to config and looks better for me.

  5. it should def be working now .... the html produced by photoshop is kinda stoopid .. it fixes too many things to 100% the height should not be fixed by anything (if they are set then they should be a size calculated by the flash image embedded) I set them to a pixel number and the scroll bars are set to hidden.

it's real simple html to edit and fix .. but I think i need to find a new solution .. or figure out how to edit what the scipt that makes the flash gallery does.

  6. Hi Giles:

    Great website.

I have one minor criticism to offer and it has to do with the categories you have grouped your images within.

Photography from airplanes is “Aerial Photography†and not “Arial Photographyâ€. Arial is the name of a popular font used in word-processing software and does not denote photography from airplanes. In other words, "Arial" should be spelled as "Aerial".

Otherwise, it’s a great website. I hope you get lots of mileage out of it.

  7. No one ever accused me of good spelling  thanks .. i appreciate that.

  8. I always get aerial wrong as well! Nice stuff, Giles.

I would like to see your painted technique applied to more underwater images. Could be very cool.

Although, of course, my favourite is the one of you UW at the top of the page!

    Alex
