Zoom Gear for Dummies

  1. Hi Folks,

Posting this here as well as "Beginner's Forum"......

I've just moved up from Oly 3040 to DSLR. I was guided in my purchases by Wetpixel and Woody from Nexus America who's apparently very knowledgeable but not particularly forthcoming when it comes to instructionsl

Among the gear I've bought (featuring demo model Nikon D100, used Nexus D100 housing, modified Sigma 28-80 Lens, 60 Macro Port, Inon Z-240 and Ultralight arms.) is a zoom gear for the lens. So here's the "dummy" part: I'm not sure what it does (though I suspect it has to do with manual zooming) and certainly have no idea how it installs.

Anyone care to advise, after you've finished laughing?

    Thanks!

    Peter

  2. Hi Peter,

The zoom gear should fit around the zoom ring on the lens, and there should be a knob either on the port of the housing the access the zoom gear and zooms the lens in and out.

Let me know if this answered your question.

    Luiz

  3. The zoom gear has an instruction sheet included with it showing how to mount it on the lens. If all else fails you could always call or email me for answers to your questions. I cannot answer questions you might have if I have not heard them. Woody

  4. Thanks to you, Luiz, for your speedy reply, and thanks and apologies to you, Woody...a crossing of communication wires. I'll look for those zoom gear instructions, figure out what I don't know and then ask you about it.

    Best,

    Peter
