IMPORTANT: SUUNTO D6 and D9 Recall

7 posts
  1. there seems to be an issue in a certain series of Suunto D6 and D9 that can cause problems in calculating desaturation and deco.

If you own a D6 or D9 please check the suunto site here:

for me information as you may need to have it sent back for a software update.

  2. thanks for the info will send my D9 in for update

  3. Thanks Paul. I'm the lucky owner of one of those !!!!!!!

How is the water temp at the end of Sept? I'm thinking of going home at that time but never dove the mediterannee before, my coldest so far 81F, LOL !!!!! I will be on the coast for a few days (Port-Camargue).

  4. i am one of the (un)lucky owners as well.

the waters around port camargue are always a bit colder then around here but end september is usually quite comfy, around 22-23 C (COLD)!!!!! I dive all year round with a 6.5 semi dry, with additional layers under it outside of the months of july and august.

diving the med is really nice, you just have to have other expectations that's all. and especially around the marseille area there are great dive spots in the calanques and such with fantastic life and scenery.

you should try it it's fun ;)

  5. brrrrrrrrr

or as they say en francais

    brrrrrrrr

  6. 22-23C cold????!!!! my gosh, try diving in california... 8-15C :-) 23C feels great!

  7. I also have a D9, and like it alot, except that it occasionally won't sync up with the transmitter. :D

My reading of the recall notice is that this isn't necessarily a dangerous glitch if you're using reasonably conservative profiles, but could cause problems (none have actually occurred as far as they know) if you're pushing the tables.

Also, if you have a Suunto dealer near you (e.g., we have REI and numerous others here in Seattle), you can take your computer in to them, and they'll get it fixed (still involves sending it back to the co., I think, but at least THEY'RE responsible if it gets waylaid...).
