I have a housing used for mainly surfing and surface photography which was used on my N8008 then adapted to be used on my F5 and now woth the addition of some small fill in flash my d100. However this housing came to me with a long hook controll which I have yet to find a use for. In the Uk Camerasunderwater will supply me a hole blank to remove it completely but I have a better use for it. Can I add a controll to the housing? Do you have any tips for doing this? I Have a flat empty area in mind, above the main command dial with space to alow the controll to access the dial below via a shaft and small wheel.
Should I or shouldn't I?
thanks
Mike
Hi Mike,
It would be more easy to answer yur question if I knew what youre housing is made of. Since you mention moveing the control, I think you might have an Ike housing made of plexiglas/lexan. Generally it should be no problem adding the knob, providing the plexi is atleast 6-7mm thick and that you have a wingnut to secure the controll.
Use a mounted drill to make the hole in the housing and proceed cautiously and slowly as you move through.
It is NOT advisable to do similar adjust ments to a aluminium housing.
This advise is given to my best knowledge! It does NOT come with a guarantee!
