The eye dosen't look quite in focus. Perhaps slightly overexposed.
Eyes on green morays never look quite right to me... Even when fore and background are in focus, the eyes always seem fuzzy. I think that is just how they are.
Thomas - is this a crop from a larger image? I'd like to see the whole thing, if so. I really like the composition, the color looks a little off, but I wasn't there.
The shadow on the left works well in this case - adds great contrast. Only suggestion - get a little lower to make the shot more dramatic.

I suspect the photo was taken at night, hence the slightly opaque eyes that is normally clear. Then again maybe this eel simply has eye fungus problems.
You can correct it to some degree by using photoshop on the eyes only. Mask the round eyes, and inverse the mask. Make the black more black, and reduce the haze by maybe playing with contrast.
Composition wise, I really like it.
Maybe can be improved if you waited a little while more until the eel opens its mouth and shows some teeth (they do that to breath and taste the water). That will give the photo more of a WOW danger factor. Then again with only one strobe, you may get distracting shadows in the mouth, but read on.
Exposure wise marginally over exposed on the top. The strong shadow on the left side bugs me, I would prefer a soft shadow where I see some details of the eel. I know you only have one strobe, but you could use a white writing slate to bounce a soft light into that area.
The strobe aim may also be slightly too far back, not sure.
